The mission of the University of Milan (UMIL), established in 1924, is to contribute to society through the pursuit of teaching/education and research at the highest international levels of excellence. It is the only Italian member among the 23 prestigious Universities of the League of European Research Universities (LERU). The University has signed 147 grants under the 7th Framework Programme (2007-2013), and 70 grants under the Horizon 2020 Programme.
The Department of Environmental Science and Policy (ESP) was born in April 2017 and consists of a diverse group of researchers conducting fundamental and applied research to solve environmental problems associated with resource use, climate change and population growth.
Department’s research is covering all the three ERC domains: Social Sciences and Humanities (SH); Life Sciences (LS), Physical and Engineering Sciences (PE).
Research Activity
The research team is specifically involved in the research cluster “Environmental and agri-food economics”, consisting in research activities regarding “Innovation for the bioeconomy”, focused on the analysis of the impact of agbiotech innovative technologies through patent data, the identification of innovation drivers and the best strategies to implement circular economy.
