Prof. Bruno Mezzetti

 

He was President of the Bachelor's and Master's Degree Courses in Agricultural Science and Technology. He has carried out research abroad at the USDA-ARS Fruit Laboratory and Plant Molecular Biology Laboratory, Beltsville MD-USA and at the WUR-DLO Development Biology laboratory, Wageningen (NL). He has carried out other research and teaching activities in England, Chile, China, Senegal, Taiwan, Kenya.
Cordinator of 2 COST actions (COST836, COST863) and the FP7 project KBBE, EUBerry, as well as having participated as a partner in 5 other EU projects. He is currently coordinator of a new COST action - iPLanta  and partner of a new Horizon 2020 Goodberry project.
He has been coordinator and partner of several MIUR (PRIN) and Mipaf projects, as well as several projects with private companies operating in the nursery and fruit production sector.
He has contributed to numerous international scientific publications concerning the application of genetic improvement techniques and plant biotechnologies including genetic engineering for improving sustainability and the quality of fruit production. In the field of biotechnology has developed different approaches to study and validate the function of genes related to important agronomic characteristics and developed studies for the assessment of risks and benefits for genetically modified plants. As part of the cultivation of fruit plants, he contributed with the establishment and commercial distribution of 9 new patented varieties and with the development and dissemination of new low-impact cultivation techniques. 
Prof. Mezzetti is author of a total of 159 publications in SCOPUS journals (IF:33) and several book chapters, topic review manuscripts and extension non-indexed publications. He has Chaired 4 ISHS international symposiums.
